St Thomas House Flats

Each flat consists of a sitting room, a bedroom, a bathroom and a small fitted kitchen. The flats, on three floors with a lift, surround a shared garden and there is also a launderette, a community room and a guest room. The flats come under Almshouse legislation and residents pay a monthly contribution for running costs, and which can be paid through housing benefit for those eligible.

Potential residents are asked to complete a Thomas House application form and are then interviewed by the trustees. Most residents are aged over 50, some are working and some not, and they are able to stay in the house living independently but with the support of the resident warden should they need it.

The community is welcoming and diverse and some members enjoy sharing time together with social activities and outings. It is important to recognise that the house provides sheltered accommodation for independent living and is not a care home.
